Wonderful Spanish flavours September 17, 2007 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
This is one of the best Spanish food books since the Moro cookbooks. Just as the Moro books, this book is now one of my basic references for our family meals. The recipes are very cleverly constructed with fresh produce - the combined flavours are superb. I love the way Sr Vazquez creates vegetable dishes - the broad beans and ham; the catalan spinach - these are Spanish classics but he just makes them simpler and better tasting than the other recipes I have tried. Photographs too are excellent and really inspiring. The roast chicken with the chorizo based stuffing should be a Sunday roast everywhere!
A useful addition to the Spanish cooking bookshelf - Over 80 authentic Spanish recipes for all occasions... August 22, 2007 17 out of 18 found this review helpful
'Spanish life revolves around food, beginning with breakfast eaten in a bar on the way to work, followed by a long, leisurely lunch consumed around 2 pm, then a snack after work and ending with supper late in the evening. Meals are seen as a time for coming together.....
The author was born and brought up in Seville, where he was a chef for a number of years. He now lives and works in London, but often visits his native Spain. This is his first book.'

Easy to follow with brilliant results May 29, 2007 22 out of 23 found this review helpful
I'm inclined to purchase books from familiar chefs and writers as it's easier to predict the type of recipes and also the successes that I'm likely to have. However, this book has prompted me to think otherwise. Tempted by the beautiful cover and inside photographs this slim addition to my bookshelves has already paid for itself in the enjoyment from reading and the successes of it's recipes. The monkfish with onions - so easy, so delicious... the lamb with lemon and garlic, equally delicious... the baked crab, perfect! Limited ingredients maximum flavours - a brilliant book - I recommend it.
