1 out of 5 stars Oh dear   October 17, 2008
This book is terrible (why doesn't Amazon let you give something 0 stars?!). Knowing famous people and having been to expensive doctors/therapists does not qualify you to write a book about organic principles. I can't believe anyone agreed to publish this load of tripe. They clearly didn't spend much money on proofreading/editing, either, and the layout means the whole thing is even more wasteful than it would have been anyway. Avoid!

1 out of 5 stars Save a tree, don't buy this book!   May 17, 2008
My favourite quote from the book "[Jo has] money, glamour, great connections...". Oh dear.

It starts off in a friendly way and I was drawn in, thinking actually this might be an approchable, easy to read guide to what I should and shouldn't be looking for in skin care and cosmetics. Unfortunately not.

It quickly deteriorated into her visiting someone who to be honest, really quite put me off the whole idea even if he inspired her. Then after a few more quotes about how wonderful she is it becomes a recepi book, and not a good one at that (does anyone need two pages dedicated top how to make a fresh fruit salad?).

After some publicity shots - and oh, did she mention she was the wife of a rolling stone and has some wonderful parties? - she spends the final third of her book promoting her products.

So, am I any more the wiser than I was after reading a Sunday suppliment about cosmetic chemicals? No. However I do now know that Jo Wood is the most wonderful, beautful and caring woman in the world ever*.

2 out of 5 stars The author is her own biggest fan!   March 29, 2007

This book is simple and an easy introduction to an organic lifestyle but there are far too many quotes about how wonderful the author is. If you need to say it...

The book lacks enough detail and new information for someone who is already leading an organic / natural lifestyle and is more suited to someone new to the idea. Also, there are too many pictures and quotes that are used to simply pad out the book which means that it isn't good value for money. I would not really recommend this book as it is little more than an extended advert for Jo's beauty range and for Jo herself!!!

1 out of 5 stars Sorry I disagree   February 16, 2007

I felt that the layout (large print, double spacing (her recipe for a "wake up call" drink only had about 50 words on two pages!!))the whole book could have been condensed to about 100 pages instead of the 400!. I also felt that she did not give enough detail on the topics which she covered if she really wanted to get the point across about avoiding chemicals. And... did we really need the recipes... the constant quotes from her family and friends about how marvellous she is!!! - Sorry I feel at a cost of 12.99 there is not enough "meat on the bones" of this book and I feel a little bit short changed!

5 out of 5 stars A great read!   February 2, 2007

This is a really lovely book and a gentle introduction to an organic way of life. Jo seems so approachable, and her story is one of passion and very heart felt, you feel part of the book. I found it very inspiring that there are choices out there for us all, and so many that we never get told or educated about. I really recommend this to any reader. I already live a very organic/natural life for my health and have bought this book for some of my friends in the hope to inspire them to realise it is not as difficult as we all think. Well done Jo Wood.
